The mission of the International Student Support Unit (ISSU) is to support international students enrolled in the University of Western Macedonia (UOWM)'s Foreign Language Programmes of Study and to assist international students in order to facilitate their communication with other public institutions and services on issues related to their residence and settlement in Greece.

Greece΄s currency is the euro (€) since January 2002 (1 euro = 100 cents).
The use of cards (debit or credit) is widespread everywhere, with wide use of electronic transactions and purchases, as well as online payment of bills and government services.
There are ATMs everywhere for cash withdrawal with a debit or credit card. Most of them also accept Cirrus and Maestro cards.

The majority of the chain stores are open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, except on Saturdays (open until 8:00 pm).
Some businesses are open between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Mondays and Wednesdays they are open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Stores close on most Sundays.
Supermarkets open from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, while on Saturdays they are open until 8:00 pm.
Banks operate from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, and from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm on Friday.
